JUDITH SANCHEZ RUIZ

The Berlin–based director, choreographer, teacher, improviser, Judith Sánchez Ruíz (CU- GE), was based in New York since 1999 and relocated to Berlin in 2011. She’s created numerous choreographic stage works and Site Specific, and has initiated several improvisation projects involving live music with innovative composers and visual artist. Former member of Sasha Waltz & Guest, Germany (2011-2014);Trisha Brown Dance Company, US, (2006-2009); Mal Pelo Company, Spain (1997-1999), and DanzAbierta Company, Cuba, (1991-1996). Among others independent choreographers as: DD Dorvillier (2002), David Zambrano (1997), Jeremy Nelson & Luis Malvacias (2001); Deborah Hay (2012) Since 2012 she has been doing a choreographic collaboration with Edivaldo Ernesto. “NOISE” their new duet, is touring 2017-18.

Research is state of mind in which things flow, widening, awake, transcend…

This workshop will trigger your un/comfortable zone. I will guide you to look for the unknown exploration of different approaches to the movement that is part of my work investigation. Practicing how to keep the state of research, awareness, and curiosity, we will learn how to develop movement in composition with space and in relationship with others.
I will encourage you to own your movement. Find precision, and wildness all together but overall, Live in your dance!
